In a forest, a lion named Bhasurak used to kill many wild animals every day. One day all the creatures of the forest reached him together and requested him – ‘Vanraj! What is the use of killing many animals every day? Your diet becomes complete for a living being, so why don’t we make such a promise to each other that you will get food while sitting here. Singh agreed to his point. After a few days it was the rabbit’s turn. The rabbit walked towards the lion’s den, but was not raising its legs near death. Fearing death, he wandered in the forest.

At one place he saw a well. Seeing him, a thought came to his mind that why not make Bhasurak fall into this well by showing his shadow in the name of another lion in his forest. Thinking the same way, he reached Bhasurak Singh for a long time. Singh was suffering from hunger and thirst at that time. He was thinking that if no other animal comes for a while, then he will go towards his prey and will irrigate the whole forest with the blood of animals. At that moment the rabbit reached near him and bowed down to him and sat down. Seeing the rabbit, the lion roared with anger and said – ‘Hey rabbit! One, you are small and then you have come after taking so long. The rabbit replied by bowing his head. Lord, you are getting angry in vain. First of all, listen to the reason for my late arrival.’ Sher Gurrya – speak quickly. I am very hungry. Don’t chew on you before I say anything to you.

Owner! Me and the other four rabbits, four or five of us were coming to you when on some way another lion came out of his cave and said – ‘Hey! Where are you going, I have come to eat you. Go to a rabbit Bhasurak and call him, I will deal with him myself. Which of us will be strong. He will be the king of this forest. I have come to spare my life from him, sir. That’s why I got late.

Hearing this, Bhasurak said – “It is so, then quickly take me to that other lion. Today I will satisfy the hunger by drinking his blood. The rabbit said – well, if this is your decision, Swami. Then you go with me.” ” Saying this the rabbit took Bhasuraka to the ridge of that well. Come, let me show you his face. The rabbit took Bhasurak Singh to the back of the well. When Bhasurak bowed down and peeped, he saw his own shadow. He understood that this was the second lion. Then he roared loudly. From his thunder, twice the echo was heard from the well. Mistaking that echo as the thunder of another lion, Bhasurak jumped into the well at that very moment and gave up his life by drowning in his own water. The rabbit defeated the lion with his intelligence. After returning from there, he went to the meeting of wildlife. Knowing his cleverness and hearing the news of the death of the lion, all the animals danced with joy.

Lesson: With wisdom, even the stronger than yourself can be defeated.

शेर और खरगोश की कहानी इन हिंदी

किसी वन में भासुरक नामक एक सिंह प्रतिदिन अनेक वन्य जीवों को मारा करता था। एक दिन जंगल के सभी जीव मिलकर उसके पास पहुंचे और उससे निवेदन किया -‘वनराज! प्रतिदिन अनेक प्राणियों को मारने से क्या लाभ? आपका आहार तो एक जीव के पूर्ण हो जाता है, इसलिए क्यों ना हम परस्पर कोई ऐसी प्रतिज्ञा करते हैं कि आपको यहां बैठे बैठे ही भोजन मिल जाए। सिंह उनकी बात मान गया। कुछ दिनों बाद यह खरगोश की बारी आ गई। खरगोश सिंह की मांद की ओर चल पड़ा, किंतु मृत्यु के पास इसके पैर नहीं उठा रहे थे। मौत के डर से वह जंगल में भटकता रहा।

एक स्थान पर उसे एक कुआँ दिखाई दिया। उसे देखकर उसके मन में विचार आया कि क्यों न भासुरक को उसके वन में दूसरी सिंह के नाम से उसकी परछाई दिखाकर इस कुएं में गिर दिया जाए। यही उपाय सोचता वह भासुरक सिंह के पास बहुत देर तक पहुंचा। सिंह उस समय भूख प्यास से बेहाल था। वह सोच रही रहा था कि कुछ ही देर तक और कोई पशु न आया तो वह अपने शिकार की ओर चल पड़ेगा और पशुओं के खून से सारे जंगल को सींच देगा। उसी समय वह खरगोश उसके पास पहुंच गया और उसको प्रणाम करके बैठ गया। खरगोश को देखकर सिंह ने क्रोध से गरजकर कहा- ‘अरे खरगोश!एक तो तू छोटा है और फिर इतनी देर लगा कर आया है। खरगोश ने सिर झुकाकर उत्तर दिया। स्वामी आप व्यर्थ क्रोध कर रहे हो। पहले मेरी देर से आने का कारण तो सुन लीजिए।’ शेर गुर्र्या -जल्दी बोल। मैं बहुत भूखा हूं। मैं तेरे कुछ कहने से पहले ही तुझे चबा न जाऊं।

स्वामी! मैं तथा अन्य चार खरगोश हम चार-पांच आपके पास आ रहे थे कि किसी मार्ग में दूसरा सिंह अपनी गुफा से निकलकर और आया और बोला -‘अरे! किधर जा रहे हो, मैं तुम्हें खाने आया हूं। मैंने उससे कहा- हम भासुरक सिंह के पास आहार के लिए जा रहे हैं। तब वह बोल-‘भासुरक कौन होता है? मैं ही तुम्हारा राजा हूं। तुममें से चार खरगोश यही रह जाओ। एक खरगोश भासुरक के पास जाकर उसे बुला लए, मैं स्वयं उससे निबट लूंगा। हममें से जो बलशाली होगा। वह इस जंगल का राजा होगा। मैं उससे जान छोडा कर आया हूं, महाराज। इसलिए मुझे देरी हो गई।

यह सुनकर भासुरक बोला-“ऐसा ही है तो जल्दी से मुझे उस दूसरे सिंह के पास ले चलो। आज मैं उसका रक्त पीकर ही की भूख मिटाऊंगा। खरगोश ने कहा-ठीक है, यदि स्वामी आपका यही निर्णय है। तो आप मेरे साथ चलिए।” यह कहकर खरगोश भासुरक को उस कुएं की मेंड़ पर ले गया। आईए, आपको उसकी सूरत दिखा दूँ। खरगोश भासुरक सिंह को कुएं की मेंड़ पर ले गया। भासुरक ने झुककर झाँका तो उसे अपनी ही परछाई दिखाई दी। उसने समझा कि यही दूसरा सिंह है। तब वह जोर से गरजा। उसकी गरज से कुएं में से भी दुगनी गूंज सुनाई दी। उस गूंज को दूसरे सिंह की गरज समझकर भासुरक उसी क्षण कुएं में कूद पड़ा और अपने वहीं जल में डूब कर उसने अपने प्राण त्याग दिए। खरगोश ने अपनी बुद्धिमता से सिंह को हरा दिया। वहां से लौटकर वह वन्य जीवो की सभा में गया। उसकी चतुराई जानकर और सिंह की मौत का समाचार सुनकर सभी जानवर प्रसन्नता से नाच उठे।

शिक्षा : बुद्धिमानी से अपने से अधिक बलवान को भी पराजित किया जा सकता है।
